Stress and Health Assessment is basically divided into two stages:


  • Taking measurements;
  • Preparing reports about Personal accumulative stress and health level.

Stress has two major aspects: momentary stress and accumulative stress. Continuous increase of momentary stress leads to increase in long-term accumulative stress and health level.


Stress could be either physical, mental or both.

Physical stress is caused by long-term exposure to negative factors, such as: irregular lifestyle; physical overload; environmental toxicity; cigarettes; alcohol; drugs; improper diets, etc.

Mental stress can be caused by factors like: insecurity; negative emotions; mental overload; confusion; rejection on a social level; family problems; boredom; low self-esteem; etc.

Physical and Mental Stress Assessment


Physical Stress


PHYSICAL STRESS assessment reveals the level of physical stress accumulated in the organism that it has been present for a continuous period of time.


The physical stress level is calculated primarily on the basis of the HRV parameters related to the frequency distribution of the cardiointervals from the histogram (these are the time-based parameters of HRV).


The result of the physical stress assessment is presented on a coordinated form, the variations of the age-typical values and the calculated coefficient. This coefficient indicates if the level of physical stress is high or low.


The difference between the age-related values and the measured value of the patient indicates the actual level of physical stress –which is the physical stress index. If the value is positive it means the physical stress has increased. Ideally, the results should have negative values.

Mental Stress


MENTAL STRESS is presented in the same way as the PHYSICAL STRESS - on a coordinated form, comparing the age-related values with the actually measured value.


The mental stress level is calculated on the basis of the HRV parameters related to the frequency spectrum of the cardiointervals – these are the frequency-based parameters of HRV. Increased level of mental stress corresponds to increased spectral power in the slow-wave area of the spectrum (below 0.06 Hz). On the other hand, increased spectral power in the high-frequency zone (above 0.07 Hz) and increased total spectral power (TP) indicate low level of mental stress.


The relations and interdependencies described above are used to calculate the Mental Stress Coefficient.


The difference between the age-related values and the measured value of the particular patient presents the mental stress index. Ideally, it should be a negative number. If the mental stress index is positive, this indicates that the mental stress has increased.


The calculated values of PHYSICAL and MENTAL STRESS reflect the tension of the heartbeat regulatory mechanisms at the moment of the test. This tension is the result of increased requirements for optimal physical and mental adaptation. When the test is conducted after an adequate period of physical and mental rest (10 minutes), the calculated values of physical and mental stress reflect the actual level of accumulated stress caused by different continuous stress-generating factors.


The mathematical algorithms for assessment of the factors were created on the basis of numerous clinical examinations of people chronically exposed to different types of industrial, ecological, and psychosocial stress. This facilitates the creation of reliable age-related stress coefficients.


Mental Stress


Functional Age


The functional age is assessed on the basis of the calculated equilibrium between the sympathetic and the parasympathic branches of the autonomic nervous system. Increased functional age is reflective of higher sympathetic activity, and vice versa.


It was proved that with the aging process of the organism HRV not only decreases, but also changes in certain aspects, which are not well researched and known.


The results calculated for a particular individual are compared to their normal age-related values. The difference reflects the functional age of the patient.


According to the contemporary medical philosophy the increased functional age can precede the progress of dangerous diseases.


The difference between the functional and the actual age is assessed exponentially on the following scale Excellent –> very good –> good –> normal –> bad –> very bad

Are The Increased Levels Of Accumulated Physical And Mental Stress Dangerous?


The stress professionals proved that the chronically increased accumulated overstress could facilitate the development of diabetes, hypertonia, oncological formations, gastric ulcer, heart pathology, etc. This makes the accumulated stress assessment via HC-CD a mandatory medical examination in each case, when a precise health risk assessment is necessary for an individual or a population.


The accumulated stress assessment for individuals younger than 18 and older than 70 is not exactly precise due to the substantial variances within these groups and the smaller number of examined individuals. In such cases, the stress result of the patient can be compared with historical values (as a means for self-control). Everyone has a basic (chronic) value of the accumulated stress. This value can be influenced during short-term stress-generating factors (during a few hours or days). In order to exclude this effect, the examination must be repeated in two or three days
